Amorpha canescens - Lead Plant
A shrub that can get up to 3' tall, Lead Plant has masses of purple blossoms with contrasting orange tips in summer. Has deep roots that help the plant survive drought and fire. A legume species. Its common name could be named after the dusty hue of the foliage or an old belief that the plant's presence was an indicator of sub-surface lead ore. Grows good in medium to dry soils and full sun.

2-3' tall

Zones 2-9
